Shoes with hidden whisky stash on sale

A London cobbler has taken on-the-go drinking to another level, launching a pair of Italian brogues with space to stash a miniature bottle of booze in each heel.

Oliver Sweeney has teamed up with Johnnie Walker to launch the Johnnie Tan Leather Brogue, which boasts space to slide a miniature bottle of whisky into its heel – a sneaky addition that that Inspector Gadget would be proud of. The cobbler has adapted its classic Oxford Brogue to create the novel footwear, which are handcrafted using premium calf leather and priced at £295 a pair.

Each handmade shoe comes with a miniature bottle of Johnnie Walker Red Label whisky in its heel, custom-embroidery, a striding man tattoo, red suede lining in the heel compartment and a transparent top piece to display its secret stash.

Its makers described the limited edition brogues as a “sophisticated and progressive alternative to a classic” which will ensure you “boldly keep walking” – a nod to Johnnie Walker’s famous ‘keep walking’ campaign.

However the distillers foray into fashion doesn’t end with footwear. Last week it unveiled a tweed fabric designed to permanently smell of Johnnie Walker’s Black Label Whisky.
