Majestic to drop delivery size to six

Majestic Wine is to reduce its minimum delivery size from 12 to six bottles from tomorrow.

The move, announced today, follows the UK wine retailer’s decision to reduce the minimum order in-store from 12 to six bottles in September 2009.

According to the multiple specialist, customers can now order a mixed case of six bottles in any of its 181 stores, by telephone or online at www.majestic.co.uk for delivery in mainland UK.

However, the delivery service is only free if the order comes to £40 or more, and a £5 charge will be applied to orders of six bottles which fall below this total.

Chief executive Steve Lewis said of the development, “Our minimum purchase was reduced instore to six bottles in September 2009 and we are delighted that we can now offer this online too.

“It is an exciting change, I think it’s important that our delivery proposition evolves to suit the needs of online consumers,” he added.
