Drinks Business Green Awards 2012 – the winners

Chile, South Africa and New Zealand were the standout winners at the Drinks Business Green Awards 2012 last night, as the drinks industry continued to show it is taking its impact on the environment seriously.

The awards, held in central London, recognised those in the industry who are changing their business practices to minimise their impact on the environment.

Over 70 people gathered to congratulate the winners at the ceremony at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel, Knightsbridge.

The audience were also treated to Torres Nerola red and white wine, which uses organic grapes and Fairhills – Unsung Heroes.

The Green Company of the Year award went to Viñedos Emiliana.

The estate was commended by David Mawer, managing director, JF Hillebrand for: “Improving its business practice to better its carbon footprint by improving its own direct impact on the surrounding environment.”

Pramia scooped the prize for Green Company of the Year in the Spirit division.

Wines of South Africa won the Generic Sustainability Award of the Year for its work in promoting sustainable practices in the country.

The sponsors of the night included, JF Hillebrand, Fairhills, Amorim and Wines of Chile.
