Gin & Vodka Association axed
The Gin & Vodka Association (GVA) in the UK is to be disbanded and its work taken over by the Wine and Spirit Trade Association (WSTA).
A new spirits council will be formed within the WSTA to represent the interests of spirits companies.
The new council will be chaired by recently appointed GVA chairman Bob Rishworth of Halewood International.
The move will see Graham Bateman and Louise Foxwell from the GVA joining the WSTA team as spirits policy director and spirits policy manager respectively.
The changes take effect as of 31 December 2010.
Jeremy Beadles, WSTA chief executive, said: “The WSTA is looking forward to working with some new member companies and expanding its role.
“I would like to place on record our thanks to existing members for their continuing support on behalf of the industry.
“On a personal note I am delighted that Graham and Louise will be adding their expertise to our team.”
The GVA was created in 1991 through the merger of the Vodka Trade Association and the Gin Rectifiers and Distillers Association.
