Lidl offers deal to The Traitors’ fan favourite Diane

UK discounter Lidl has offered a ‘fizzy rosé’ brand deal to The Traitors contestant, Diane Carson, who proved a firm fan favourite.

Carson appeared in the second season of the popular BBC show, which sees teams of Traitors and Faithfuls battle it out for a large cash prize,  obtained after a series of gruelling trials.

She appeared alongside her son Ross, and was ‘banished’ after being deemed by her fellow Traitors as inadequate, including by eventual winner Harry Clark.

Later in the series, Clark made a direct reference to her son Ross about her “murder” when they recruited him as a Traitor, although he was unware that Ross was Diane’s son. Clark stated that the Traitors had to get rid of her as she was getting “too brave” and they needed to “put her in her place”. This subsequently resulted in Ross subsequently attempting to seek revenge for his mother’s murder, but ultimately failing and getting banished himself.

Proving the retailer has its finger on the pulse, it posted a suggestion on X (formally known as Twitter) calling on Diane to join them on an “ultimate collab”.  After Diane was ousted from the gripping TV show by drinking from a ‘poison chalice’ of pink fizz by rival ‘traitor’ Miles. Therefore, the retailer offered the potential to team up with Carson on its Prosecco Spumante Rosé.

It’s not know whether Carson has taken up the collab offer, but the retailer has dropped its Prosecco Spumante Rosé from £5.99 to £4.99 for its Lidl Plus customers, for two weeks in February, until Valentine’s Day.

The Traitors TV show has become one of the BBC’s most successful of the year to-date, and has averaged almost six million viewers per episode, according to viewing figures.

Lidl has previously used The Traitors as a draw on social media, including videos of “Claudia Lidlman” on Instagram.
